A winter break for jumps equipped with
plastic mats?
Many operators of ski jumps equipped with plastic mats are confronted
with the question of how to convert the jump for the Winter. Solutions
which prevent the snow from sliding are makeshift as they are unable to
withstand huge masses of snow and, accordingly, are unsafe. More
elaborate retaining systems often entail an extreme amount of work in
the assembling and disassembling process and therefore result in
intolerably high costs |

The net as a snow guard.
The SEIL-FREY snow-retaining system has stood out above other systems
when it comes to preventing snowslides. This is because it offers the
following advantages:
With the snow-retaining net practice runs and competitions can be
carried out on relatively little snow, as well as on huge quantities of
snow.
Easy handling when assembling and taking down the snow-retaining nets
saves man-hours and hence, personnel costs are kept down to a minimum.
The net helps to keep the mats in good conditions as opposed to other
solutions.
Top-quality materials guarantee that the snow-retaining nets have a long
service life. The nets do not rot as they are made of synthetic fibers,
the resistance to ultraviolet rays is high. |

Close collaboration with the operators
of ski jumps
In our capacity as a rope and net manufacturer, we have been producing
snow-retaining systems since 1980 for jumps equipped with plastic mats.
Through further development we have been able to continuously improve
these snow-retaining systems. In close collaboration with various ski
associations, we were able to devise a net system that has proven itself
in practice on over 30 ski jumps, with some of these nets now going into
their 20th year. We regard this good collaboration with the operators of
ski jumps as somewhat of a prerequisite for the continued success of our
product.

We can assure the high quality standard of our product thanks to our
experienced team of specialists. We are proud of our ability to provide
our customers reliable and thorough support both in an advisory capacity
and in project management and naturally post-installation care.
The fact that we have supplied so many different ski jumps and maintain
contact to these clients has enhanced our experience. We can therefore
build on this knowledge to help new partners. The spokespersons for the
operators of the ski jumps have sent us excellent references. |

Handling.
At the onset of Winter, the snow-retaining net is
placed on the plastic mat covering the inrun and the landing slopes
where it is then securely anchored into place. This prevents the snow
from sliding down the hill.
Even if there is very little snow, practice runs and competitions can
still take place.
In the Spring, the net is rolled off the hill and stored over the Summer
in dry, relatively dark rooms until the next Winter. |
